Voyaging Upstream October 23, 2026 release

I'm happy to report that the digital elves are smithing away on bespoking my latest album for a release two weeks from today on October 23, 2026.   This is the fourth of four albums that I will be releasing in 2026, and it too is a little bit different!

This album, called Voyaging Upstream, obliterates genre boundaries from my recent pastoral/chamber jazz collections, into a more ambient/electronic sound that might be worthy of the label ‘folktronic.’

This collection explores the essential question, “Can you pen a chart-topping EDM number in 5/4?”

Let the experiment run. Trust science.

I wrote all the tracks and played most of the instruments on this collection; including bass, guitars, idiophones, and a bunch of odd vintage synths, such as the Buchla Easel.

Unlike my other albums this year which have featured a wide variety of collaborators, for this collection I've narrowed my focus to just a few select collaborators.

Featured on saxophones and flute from Rio de Janerio, is the virtuosic Yuri Villar.  Words alone can't express his talents; the tone, the touch, the timing, the intangibles. I'm so grateful that I had this opportunity to collaborate with him and share his lyrical magic with you.

Yuri is a compelling composer too, please explore his work at: https://www.yurivillar.com/

I also had the good fortune of collaborating with emerging beat-maker Keira McKenna from Johannesburg to help me develop the vibe of the tracks.  Her masterful knack for arranging beats, building grooves, and enhancing the overall atmosphere of the tracks, provided a powerful conduit for channeling the musical energy of each track.  No matter how many odd and mixed meters I threw at her, she was able find a pocket.

As a special guest, we also welcomed the talented Portuguese clarinetista Samuel Marques, on Bass Clarinet.
